Recent Vinyl

Here's an update on some new vinyl that we have recently purchased.

I will start with a few online purchases:
The White Stripes - You Don't Know What Love Is (You Just Do As Your Told) 7 inch
I bought this off ebay from the Netherlands and got a great deal. It is a 2007 pressing that still has the sticker intact, I haven't brought myself to break the seal yet but I'm sure one day (very soon) I will.

Beck - Third Man Records Blue Series
The side A song - I Just Started Hating Some People Today - is really really interesting. It's the weird Beck that we all are used to.

Jack White - Freedom at 21
A new single from Jack White's album Blunderbuss. Side B has a non album track. I was too interested to hear it to not buy this 7 inch!

The Dead Weather - Live 12 inch single
Mr. Empty got this at Papa Jazz early one morning. It's pretty rare for Papa Jazz to have these in stock because they get purchased very quickly. It's a cool record and I'm glad that we own it.

Donovan - Wear Your Love Like Heaven
Found this at 2nd and Charles for 5 bucks! A great steal for this original stereo pressing.

Frank Sinatra - My Way
I brought this a Goodwill yesterday for 50 cents! The cover is a little beat up but the vinyl itself is in wonderful condition! My grandfather was a huge Sinatra fan so it rubbed off on me. There was almost an entire catalog of Sinatras records but this on was the only one is decent shape.

Bring Me To The Horizon - Suicide Season
The cover is pretty disturbing but Mr. Empty was super excited to find this record at Manifest Disc and Tapes.

Cage The Elephant - Thank You Happy Birthday
This record came in the mail the other day and we were both very excited! We got to see them play live last year and they did a bunch of songs from this album. I don't know why we didn't get it sooner

The Strawberry Alarm Clock - Incense and Peppermints
I got this first pressing stereo copy for $8 dollars at Papa Jazz on our last visit. Upon inspection of the record, I found that it is beat to shit. But, the owner assured me that it played above the grade. I took a chance and it plays with pops, skips, or noise. Which is insane considering that it looks like someone rolled over it repeatedly with a desk chair.

Big Brother -Confusion
This album is one big bag of confusion! I'm not entirely sure what it is or who it is by but it's pretty darn good! It cover looked so interesting I had to take a chance. I looked it up on the internet to see if I could find any info. It turns out that this is an early sixties L.A. band by Ernie Joseph. I'll definitely be looking for more albums of theirs in the future.
Frank Turner - I Still Believe (UK Record Store Day Exclusive)
My friend David Goodship knows my love for Frank Turner and he was kind enough to get this and send it over the pond to me. I was super excited to finally get it after looking across 3 states for it and on ebay and having no luck getting a deal on it. Side B features a Queen cover Somebody To Love which is amazing. Mr. Empty and I had the pleasure of hearing it live last October in Atlanta. Thanks again David!

Bluffton County Record Picks

These records were purchased from several different locations between Beaufort and Charleston S.C.
Herb Albert - Whipped Cream & Other Delights
Yet another Whipped Cream for Mr. Empty's collection.

 The Best of Doc Severinsen
Mr. Empty found this in a hopping thrift store. I'm pretty sure that he was immediately drawn into the album artwork and would have paid over the 50 cent sticker price.

 A Group Called Smith
This is an early 60's group on Dunhill records. I've never heard of them but I used context clues to guess that they were similar to The Mamas and Papas. I haven't listened to it yet but will hopefully soon.

The Lovin' Spoonful - The Best Of The Lovin' Spoonful - Vol 2
The record is n great shape and I couldn't say no. They are such a sweet sounding band. Perfect soundtrack for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

The Mamas & The Papas LP
Great record and a great addition to our collection

The Rascals - Greatest Hits
Love this cover, it's a great representation of the sixties pop art movement

Rotary Connection LP
I got this one for the cover. I thought the selective color on the ballons was genius.

Roky Erickson - All That May Do My Rhyme
Very cool album by Rocky for the 13th Floor Elevators. Mr. Empty was very excited to make this his very first Roky Erickson LP purchase. We got this at a cute new record store called Earshot. They had a great selection and I hope that they can make it!

Gary Clark Jr.
This is a record store day exclusive that we missed out on. Mr. Empty was very excited to find this at Earshot records as well. We actually has the privilege of seeing him live a few nights ago. What an amazing show! Go buy this album!

The Hundred - In The Hands 7 in
A new 7 in to add to our growing collection

JP. Chrissie & Th Fairground Boys - If You Let Me
Mr. Empty has been wanting to get this for a while. We were lucky to find it at a discounted price of only $2.

Bloc Party - The Prayer
A random 7 in that Mr. Empty took a chance on from Monster Music in Charleston. It's actually quite good

The Darkness 7in picture disc
I was so excited when Mr. Empty found this! I absolutely love the cheesiness of The Darkness. This is a UK exclusive and it features the songs: I Believe In A Thing Called Love and rare B-side Makin' Out. I'm not quite sure how it ended up here in America but I sure and glad :)

The White Stripes
Yet another 7 in to add to my White Stripes collection!
