Rock & Roll Forever

The following were purchased at a used bookstore.

The Doors - The Doors Soundtrack
The Doors soundtrack from the Oliver Stone film. It's pretty rare because it was only available through the Columbia House Record Club in the early 90's.
Rock and Roll Forever - Vol 1
Early rock n' roll comp that features awesome artists such as; Joe Turner and T-Bone Walker. I found out recently that this record is pretty rare so I'm pretty excited that I only paid $1 for it!
The Aristocats - Soundtrack
This was one of my favorite movies growing up. I used to watch it over and over and now I can rock out to the music!

Otis Redding - Live In Europe
Great live show from the legendary Otis!

Doors Bootlegs

The Doors - Waiting For The Midnight Sun
After haggling at a record convention last year, I walked away not owning this record. I got the guy down from $80 to $40 and I still wasn't okay with paying that much. I got really lucky one day ebay surfing. I came across this lp with only a few minutes left on the action, $10, no bids, free shipping.
Great record! Live recordings and alternate takes from around the time of the Waiting For Sun album.

The Doors - Mr. Mojo Risin'
Another wonderful ebay find that I got for around $10-15. Lots of live tracks, previously unreleased. The album picture totally wonderful. Gotta love bootlegs!

ATL Record Hunting

Okay, so it's been awhile! We've got a ton of stuff that we will be posting over the next week or so.
We just got back from a weekend trip to Atlanta. Had an amazing time at a music festival and found some amazing records.
But first we will start with this lamp:
On our way to Starbucks we saw a yard sale flier and it grabbed us. We came across this very unique lamp and I just had to have it. Not quite sure what will become of it yet, we may sell it or keep it. Who even knows at this point where we are going to put it.

The Sex Pistols - Where Were You In '77?
This is a sweet Sex Pistols bootleg that Mr. Empty found. The recording is very, very quiet but it's a killer concert and having to turn up the music is never a bad thing.

Johnny Cash
We paid almost nothing for this record. It's got a great track list including a cover of A Long Black Veil that I can't wait to listen to.

 Bon Iver - Calgary
We purchased this album at Wax n' Facts and perfectly priced at $13.

The Runaways - Litte Lost Girl
It's always very rare for us to see any Runaway records. This picture disc consists of the last recordings of the Runaways and it's Still Sealed! The day before finding this record, we actually got a chance to see Joan Jett live. She was amazing and still rocks as much as she did with the Runaways. Hopefully soon we will open this baby and hear it.

 Nirvana - The BBC Sessions
This is a really cool Italian concert by Nirvana. It's got a cool track list and a great listen for Nirvana fans.

Johnny Cash - Now Here's Johnny Cash
It's not everyday that you come across an early Johnny Cash record on Sun Records. And that's just what this is.

 The Clash
Why this was in the dollar record at Criminal records I will never know. I happily snatched this record up without even thinking about it. Finding cheap records is what I'm all about.

 The Rolling Stones - Flowers
What you see here is a mono copy of Flowers. We could not believe what awesome condition the jacket and record is in. I was kind of on the fence about paying almost $20 but decided that the only way I would ever get a better copy is if I had a time machine.

The Doors - Moonlight Drive
This is a bootleg of an early Doors performance from The Matrix in 1967. It has some great versions of classic favorite Doors songs sung by a very young Jim and played to what sounds like an audience of maybe 15 people. It's also really cool to hear Jim and Ray singing together on a few songs. And for such an early performance I was surprised how clear it sounds.

Greater Columbia Record Fair

Today was a big deal. The Columbia Museum of Art hosted the Greater Columbia Record Fair. We had a lot of fun and got a lot of cool records! Meet some new people and chatted with some friends.

 Entrance to the Museum.
 Papa Jazz booth from above
Around a dozen vendors set up with great stuff!

 Simon and Garfunkel
Not entirely sure what this is actually. It's some sort of unofficial release. I hope it's early because I prefer their earlier recordings.

Bob Dylan - Blonde On Blonde
Oh Dylan! It's in great shape and a very clean copy. Also has the pictures of the women inside the gatefold.

 Melanie - At Carnegie Hall
The jacket is a little dirty. It's splattered with something that resembles dried blood but i'm gonna stick with calling it coffee. :)

Patti Smith - People Have The Power
Mr. Empty pulled this out for me. I love the cover photo shot by Mapplethorpe. This 12 inch single came with a packet insert of an interview with Patti Smith and other photos by Mapplethrope.

 Elliott Smith - New Moon
Mr. Empty: "Aside from two 7"s, this is actually, shockingly, my first Elliott Smith record! Double LP, not a gatefold, but so, so good. Already listened to the whole thing, couldn't resist putting it on as soon as possible. It's also not a re-issue, which isn't the biggest deal to me but it's nice to have an original."

Patti Smith Group - Because The Night 45
If this record didn't have the picture sleeve with it, I probably would have never bought it. The look in her eyes are so gut wrenching on this cover. I had to take it home.

The Doors - The Best of The Doors
Kinda rare double LP that was released at a time when not a lot of vinyl was being pressed. Very iconic picture of Jim on the front.

Queen Ida (And The Bon Temps Band) - Zydeco

Queen Ida and her Zydeco Band - In San Francisco

 Janis Joplin - Janis
Soundtrack to the Janis documentary. I own the film on vhs because it was never released on DVD. This record has a lot of rare and intimate songs by Janis that you can't hear anywhere other than the movie and this record.

Fall Out Boy - Infinity On High
